How To Use Castor Oil Packs

You will need:

  • Wool Flannel Cloth
  • Castor Oil (at least 8 oz)
  • Plastic wrap or a cut plastic bag
  • Heating pad or hot water bottle
  • Kitchen storage container (to store cloth in)

Fully saturate a wool flannel cloth so it is almost dripping wet.

An 8 oz bottle of castor oil will be enough to initially saturate the cloth leaving a little left over in the bottle.

Do not cut the cloth.  Simply fold it as much as possible so it is barely big enough to cover the area of your body you are targeting.

Place the saturated cloth directly on your skin.

A piece of plastic wrap placed on top works as a nice barrier between the cloth and the heating pad.  Castor oil is a thick, waxy substance and may stain clothing with its residue.  The plastic wrap protects your heating pad and clothes from getting oily.  Yet, it would still be wise to use older clothing or bedding just in case stains occur.

Leave this on for 30-60 minutes.  Doing this everyday is the very best, yet 2-3 times per week would still be beneficial. Castor oil packs have a cumulative affect on the body and should be used over an extended period of time, several months, to achieve your desired goal.

Some information about castor oil packs instruct you to wash the skin with a baking soda solution. We don’t find this to be an essential step, as you may simply leave the oil left over on your skin.

Also, using visualization techniques while the castor oil is on is known to enhance the affects of the treatment.  Visualize the area of your body in a healthy state.  It may help to take a look at an anatomy book such as Gray’s Anatomy to familiarize yourself with the particular body part.
