How Does Healing Touch or Touch For Health and Other Energy Based Techniques Work? Probably the most frequently asked question about energy work is how or why does it work. While there are many factors that influence the techniques, the most profound is the sense of touch. The sense of touch allows us to receive and send information via the skin. Touch is a sensory mechanism that falls under the category of the Sensory Receptors. Sensory receptors are the interface between you and your internal and external environments. These specialized cells of the nervous system receive and interpret information about conditions inside and outside your body. They also allow your body to "send" a message by producing a response to those conditions. While these mechanisms are not well understood we can certainly see the results when we use them!
