About Cheryl & Jeff

Jeff & Cheryl met while studying music at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Soon they were inseparable and began a journey together that would lead them around the world. While working and studying in San Francisco they auditioned for and won positions with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra - Cheryl as Principal French Horn and Jeff as Principal Tuba - and stayed there for 11 exciting and educational years. They were married there in 1981 at the Union Church on Hong Kong Island.

This is the house that Jeff and Cheryl built in Udonthani, Thailand in 1989.

While living in Hong Kong they visited Malaysia, The Philippines, Korea, Japan and China. They built a home in Thailand and spent most of their summers (and every three-day weekend!) there in the late 80s. They began to study and learn about eastern uses of herbs from the people who actually prepared and used the herbs. During this time they were also introduced to and began an extensive study of aromatherapy.

Now in addition to running Cheryl's Herbs, Jeff & Cheryl perform frequently with the St. Louis Symphony and other area musical organizations. (See Cheryl's full bio) Jeff (See Jeff's full bio) is on the music faculties of the several area universities and performs numerous educational concerts yearly in Missouri schools with the Gateway Brass Quintet and the St. Louis Brass Quintet. He also makes websites, including this one and these.

Their life together has been described as a fairy tale. Working together everyday is something they felt lucky enough to be able to do as musicians in the same orchestra and now they continue to work closely together at Cheryl's Herbs.
