CHERYL’S FAVORITE MOISTURIZER!Marshmallow Emollient This is what Cheryl uses for face and body lotion and hair conditioner for her long hair. Marshmallow Emollient contains Marshmallow Root infused into Vegetable Glycerin, Aloe Gel, Jojoba Oil & Neroli Essential Oil. Most natural type moisturizing products commercially prepared or made at home contain fatty agents like vegetable and nut oils for their moisturizing action. They can leave the skin feeling greasy but most people are comfortable with their use. If you are someone who has tried everything and still wish for a better moisturizer, you may be interested in Cheryl’s Herbs Marshmallow Emollient. The Glycerin/Marshmallow Root base provides superior emollient or moisturizing qualities without the usual greasy vegetable oils. You only have to use a single drop of this powerful product for hand lotion and it also can be generously applied to other areas of the body for more therapeutic effect. Because it is not greasy it makes a wonderful hair conditioner, easily applied to wet or dry hair, leaving the hair shiny, more manageable and nicely conditioned.
Once again Cheryl’s Herbs simplifies your life with a 100% natural product that serves as a face or skin lotion and hair conditioner! Comes in a spray or just the original Emollient in a squeeze bottle. (Directions: Use one drop for hand lotion and small amounts for other skin areas. For tangles & conditioning, apply small amount to your brush or hands and fingers to "comb" through wet or dry hair.) To order CLICK HERE

The Abuse of Ma Huang (Ephedra sinica) Following the death of Baltimore Orioles pitcher Steve Bechler recently, the FDA has stepped up it’s efforts to control the chemical ephedrine and by extension the herb Ma Huang. In a new article, The Abuse of Ma Huang Ephedra sinica Jeff attempts to calm the hysteria surrounding this wonderful and extremely useful herb. At the same time he passionately defends the herb when used properly as a safe, effective and ancient herb for respiratory problems.
Product Spotlight: Lavender Soap & Shampoo Of all the Cheryl's Herbs Soap/Shampoos, Lavender is always a sure thing for anybody in any situation. Much like the essential oil of Lavender itself, products made solely from this herb and oil are multipurpose and versatile. Perhaps the most gentle and safe essential oil, Lavender's fresh, delightful herbaceous scent pleases the men and ladies alike.
CATNIP TIP A sure sign that spring is here – and that summer will soon follow - is the increasing number of hits our article Catnip as Mosquito Repellent is getting. It does help that it comes up #1 on Google when you type in any combination of "catnip" and "mosquito" and "repellent"! Check out our Catnip Summer Mixture and our Catnip Summer Spray.
NEW LINKS We recently received email from Shabari Bird who is the widow of Christopher Bird, author of The Secret Life of Plants and Secrets of the Soil. She has two very interesting websites which we have added to our LINKS page. Check them out!

NEW PRODUCT: HERBAL VINEGARS Cheryl's Herbs Vinegar Extracts are made with fresh, organic or naturally farmed herbs and organic Apple Cider Vinegar - and they're Alcohol-Free! Tradition dictates an extract that is exclusively made with vinegar is called Acetum. These are much more concentrated than your usual herb vinegar where a few sprigs of herb material are placed in vinegar for a few weeks. Even as a full strength extract, our fresh herb acetum is delicious in salad, soup, marinades or any food preparation and can be taken by the teaspoonful as a healthy tonic.
FEATURED LINK On our Links page you will find some great sources of information on Aromatherapy, Herbs and Music - and a few unclassifiable links as well. We know most of these folks and feel they have something special to offer. We will check the links from time to time to make sure they still work (and are still worthy of your attention) but if you have any trouble with any of the links we would appreciate hearing from you.
One of our new links is to the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine, Michael Moore's information-packed herbal site. Plan to spend quite some time when you visit this site. Bookmark our LINKS Page for quick access to ALL our informative links!
NEWSLETTER SPECIAL: SINUS TEA It seems everyone we know has been struggling with respiratory problems over the past few weeks. Normally unpredictable St. Louis early spring weather patterns have not disappointed us. Yesterday we had temps in the mid 60s and this morning in the mid teens. Hot/cold, dry/humid, windy/calm - each day seems to bring a little of each!
Such conditions raise challenges for those with less than the most robust respiratory and immune systems. Many years ago, Cheryl put together the recipe for Sinus Tea - Marshmallow Root, Mullein Flower, Thyme Leaf, Lavender Flower, Elder Flower, Peppermint Leaf, Plantain Leaf & Rosemary Leaf - for Jeff, who is Cheryl's Herbs' resident guinea pig for all things respiratory. It was an instant success! To this day it is our number one selling Herbal Tea. We have been serving it in our showroom this week and have been brewing several pots daily.
Remember, herbs work best as preventative medicine. If you are prone to respiratory difficulties on a regular basis as the seasons change, a few cups of this tea each day before you have symptoms may change your life - just ask Jeff!
CHERYL ON VIDEO! We recently added a short video of Cheryl welcoming you to Cheryl's Herbs to our front page. The video takes a few seconds to load - depending on your connection speed. We put it in a little pop-up window so it would not slow the loading of our front page or keep you from continuing to navigate the site while it loads.
CHERYL IN KANSAS CITY If you live in the Kansas City area, you can hear Cheryl perform Mahler's Symphony #2 with the Kansas City Symphony on April 4, 5 and 6. You can find a listing of most of Cheryl's (and Jeff's) musical performances listed in our Calendar.

NEW PRODUCT: RATTLESNAKE MASTER BALM Our newest balm, RATTLESNAKE MASTER BALM, one of Cheryl's Herbs Native Collection - herbal products designed to encourage the cultivation and preservation of American native plant species, is now available. It contains the essential oils of Fir (Silver), Cajeput, Frankincense, Nutmeg, Peppermint, Cedarwood (Atlas), Lavender, wild in a base of Echinacea Purpurea Leaf & Flower and Rattlesnake Master Root infused into Sunflower & Vitamin E Oils and unbleached Missouri Beeswax.
RATTLESNAKE MASTER BALM is a soothing formula of completely natural, historic ingredients. It is good for muscles, joints and the respiratory system. Traditionally it is also applied to temples or forehead for promoting comfort in head areas. It's an excellent product for insect activity, outdoor recreation, sports and traveling.
NEWSLETTER SPECIAL: RESPIRATORY SYRUP We have revised our recipe for our much loved Respiratory Syrup. Last August, when we visited Red Sage Farm in Wisconsin, we noticed the abundant Elder bushes laden with ripe berries. We were able to obtain a good amount of the berries and successfully transported them back to Missouri on ice packs. They were immediately processed into our Kosher vegetable glycerin to make an alcohol-free Elder Berry Glycerin Extract. They were so perfectly round and juicy the entire process kept smiles on our faces! Staring at their intense deep purple color probably contributed to our merry mood as well. There really is something to color therapy! We had to laugh when the extract was strained because we ended up with MUCH more yield than the original glycerin amount. The berries added a considerable amount of juice to our yield.
For those of you not familiar with vegetable glycerin, it is a very sweet substance that acts as a solvent for certian herb properties, natural preservative and contains its own health givng qualities when taken internally. It does not act like sugar in the body when ingested and therefore still healthful for diabetics. Used externally, glycerin is unsurpassed in its moisturizing and healing effect on the skin.
Now our Respiratory Syrup is a lovely cheerful color and even more pleasant tasting.
Elder Berries have caught researchers attention in the recent years as beneficial for the cold and flu season. Yet again, modern research proves what has been known and passed on through centuries and millennia before us!
SHOPPING CART UPDATE We recently began updating and improving our shopping cart. You should experience no lapse of service while we continue our efforts to make your Cheryl's Herbs shopping experience an easy and enjoyable one.
